Advertising and theatre, share an intricate and fascinating relationship. Both mediums captivate audiences, evoke emotions, and aim to influence human behaviour. How they do this is a story of similarities. The first, of course, is storytelling. Since the beginning of human language, stories and myths were orally narrated and passed on to the next generation. The stories that lasted and were popular, followed certain narrative structures. Over time, the narrative structures that resonated with the audience were codified. So today, whether it is the latest Marvel movie, a popular theatrical production, a successful Bollywood movie, a popular TV commercial, or a viral meme, all follow the narrative structures that have passed the test of time. Another common ground is the use of archetypes. Much before the advent of modern advertising, archetypes were a strong foundational element in theatre. Advertising uses the same superstructure to weave a brand story together. They influence how a brand speaks, behaves and interacts with the world. Both advertising and theatre uses an array of dramatic elements to evoke emotions and influence behaviour. Conflict is a powerful tool that is used to question, challenge and provoke powerful emotions. No story in the world is complete without conflict. The use of visually resplendent spectacle is used in both. Dazzling light shows and special effects leave the audience with the feeling of wonder and amazement. The list is long and good food for thought. To delve a little more with some exciting examples, please do take a look at my interview with Theatre of Joy’s Harleen Kohli. She is a person who has been a creative leader in her own right. Even during my cub days in Chandigarh, she was someone we looked up to. She does interesting podcasts with creative people and it was great to catch up with her. Do give her podcast a follow. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the contenthttps://lnkd.in/dcREkTTe#creative #advertising #content #storytelling #podcast #coupabc

Every day is a day to share a little part of your learned wisdom so somebody else can excel faster. grow beyond you, and evolve sooner.I want to hear your story.Your story is vital and necessary. And your words trapped inside, become toxic, too proud to be held, too worried to share. But it's your story that saves lives, saves yourself. Becomes someone else's survival guide, someone else's possibility to thrive. The life you've lived encourages someone else to live. Tell your story with purpose. #storytelling #leadershipdevelopment #power

Discussions are the most integral part of Storytelling. This is a ritual after every storytelling session at Vranda Arts. Young audience is always eager to share their mind if we tap them rightly. Sharings and discussions are always insightful. After the Storytelling session of “Miracle on Kachhua Beach” by Nandita da Cunha illustrated by Priya Kuriyan we discussed about community cleaning, challenges and solutions, what kids have done so far. Here’s a glimpse of it. #storytelling #enjoytheprocess #expressyourself #doityourself #discussions #sharingexperiences
