Commissioner Ed Green did not join fellow commissioners John D. Foust and William Mitchener in signing the $2,500 payment to Marion Ambulance Service, saying he wanted to see a more complete financial statement on the service's operations before signing the subsidy claim. "If they're so good, I would like to see where they stand on their bookkeeping before I sign anything," Green said later Monday. "I'm not satisfied with their statement on operational costs which has been given to us," Green added. The signatures of Foust and Mitchener were sufficient, however, to formally approve the county payment.

The $2,500 payment, which goes to Marion's municipal general fund, is the county's monthly share of the annual subsidy payment to the Marion ambulance firm. Marion pays the total $50,000 subsidy this year, with the county reimbursing the city for $30,000 of the subsidy. In other action Monday, the county commissioners agreed to receive bids for a new highway department truck at its March 15 meeting. commissioners also agreed to ask the county council for an appropriation of $12,000 for additional equipment and for the highway department and for permission to sell the 170-acre county farm property, excluding- the tracts housing the county home and animal shelter. Bond forfeited for Marion man Appeal bond of $1,000 for a Marion was forefeited through an order made by Judge Thomas.

Havens, who was fined $500 and and sentenced to 180 days on the Indiana Penal Farm after he guilty to a charge of intoxication in a hearing in City Court, filed an appeal in Judge Wright's court. Sroufe is now scheduled to present the variance request before the Grant County Area Board of Zoning Appeals. In other action, the commission approved the preliminary plat of section one of Eastbrook Heights, a subdivision proposed for the west side of Ind. 221 about one-half of a mile north of Upland.
