This recipe for Cinnamon Dolce Syrup is a Starbucks copycat hack that is so quick and easy you will never buy the flavored syrup again. Save money and enjoy delicious treats like a Cinnamon Dolce latte or coffee right in the comfort of your own home.
After I left my job I had to make some choices. Mostly I had to decide what NOT to spend money on anymore. When I was working at my full-time job, my routine included a trip to the coffee shop for a latte and most likely a pastry.
Then it became Starbucks more often than not because they opened a drive-through 3 blocks from my house!! I could easily be on a conference call, order my fix, and be on my way in no time.
So now that I'm not getting that nice paycheck, I make my own lattes at home. I'm a sucker for flavored lattes and by now you probably know I have a sweet tooth. One of my favorites is the Cinnamon Dolce Latte. I decided to make my own syrup and save money not only on making my coffee at home but also not buying $10-$20 bottles of syrup.
Ingredients and Supplies Needed to Make Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
- medium saucepan
- fine-mesh strainer
- sealable glass bottle or jar
- brown sugar
- water
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon sticks
How to Make Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
- Add all of the ingredients to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until everything has combined and comes to a boil. Boils for 30 seconds and then remove from heat. and let it cool. Strain into your bottle of choice using a mesh strainer.
- Allow the mixture to steep and cool for at least an hour. Remove the cinnamon sticks and strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer. Add to a sealable bottle or jar and store in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
What to use Cinnamon Syrup for:
- Flavored latte or coffee
- Flavor your favorite vanilla frosting and use on cinnamon rolls or cupcakes!
- Mix some with a little bourbon for a sweet nightcap
- Use the syrup for pancakes or waffles (add to the batter or as a syrup)
- Add to whipped cream for an extra special treat
How to store your Homemade Syrup
Store your homemade syrup in a sealable bottle or jar. Glass is best, but you could also use plastic if that what you have. Just make sure it seals tightly to keep extra air out. Below is the type of flip-top bottle I use to store my homemade syrups in. The Cinnamon Dolce Syrup should stay good several weeks in the fridge, but I don't think it will last that long! Don't forget to label and date the bottle.

Notes
- This recipe yields about 2 cups of syrup but you could easily double the recipe if you wanted to make more or decide to make some to give as gifts.
- You can also use 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon instead of the cinnamon sticks but I find that you get a thick gloopy substance that is fine but not ideal. If you do use ground cinnamon, make sure you strain the liquid with cheesecloth or a coffee filter before adding to your sealable bottle.

If you don't want a coffee drink but want something hot, I would suggest using this syrup in hot cocoa or tea.
