The House — Season 1
What to Know
Critics Consensus
Whether you're a fan of stop-motion animation or just looking for something deeply, alluringly weird, The House will feel like home.
Dave C "Deeply, alluringly weird" is a perfect summation of this anthology! What is incredible, is how quickly each ‘chapter' entices you. The first tale is very dark, with similarities to The Shining, and the stitched doll-like nature of the animation enhances the sinister undertones perfectly. The second and third creations are wired with dark comedy, and satire. A wonderfully strange little anthology! Rated 5/5 Stars •Rated 5 out of 5 stars01/19/24 Full Review Camila R I enjoyed and recommend The House, especially if you're a fan of stop motion. The stories are also quite creative and the characters are very interesting. Overall, it's a good film, worth watching. Rated 4/5 Stars •Rated 4 out of 5 stars01/06/24 Full Review Madison T I would recommend it to anyone who loves Coraline and anything dark that gives you something to think about. I adore dark and deep stuff like this. It reminds me a lot of Coraline with the small Easter eggs connecting themselves in each but honestly, this was its own thing altogether. I'm hoping for a second season. First of all, I love how each story was a masterpiece on its own and didn't completely revolve around the house. The character design was so different and unique from their styles to their personality and their problems in each.Another thing is how each story gives you something to chew on days after you finish it. Plenty to think about. The last was a really sweet story to top it all off. left me with a nice warm and fulfilled feeling that makes me want to return for more. In the end, all I can say to sum it up is that this was wonderful. I feel like a lot of the other reviews were from people who didn't know what they were getting into. DO NOT watch if you don't like dark stuff that makes you think. the only comedy in this is in the second story but that's also the darkest episode that will make you feel slightly sick and very unsettled. enjoy <3 Rated 5/5 Stars •Rated 5 out of 5 stars12/16/23 Full Review Susanah F An amazing experience, just took breath out of my lungs. Rated 5/5 Stars •Rated 5 out of 5 stars10/28/23 Full Review Edip Necdet A The first one was pretty excited to watch and to see the end. But the others were too boring to watch. Audience literally was pushing themselves to take the messages from the movie. It was a disaster! Such a waste of time. Only thing was good in general, being aware of the effort to do this kind of animation. Except then, don't recommend to watch it. Dmitry Samarov Chicago Reader The framing device of setting different stories in the same location is a well-worn trope, but it works beautifully here, lending a starting point for three very different visions. In addition, the diseases themselves are (mostly) accurate. There are instances of made-up disorders and exaggerated symptoms and treatments — this is still first and foremost a medical drama for entertainment, after all — but most of the diseases present with the proper symptoms and receive a workable treatment.
The season's sub-plot revolves around billionaire Edward Vogler making a $100 million donation to the hospital. Through this donation, Vogler becomes the new chairman of the board and orders House to fire one of his team members.
Producers purposely ended House M.D. after Season 8 to maintain quality and respect for the title character. Universal TV wanted a Season 9, but Fox wanted fewer episodes due to high production costs. Despite negotiations, conflicts over production costs and episode numbers led to the cancellation of House M.D.
House would eventually diagnose the infarction himself. An aneurysm in his thigh had clotted, leading to an infarction and causing his quadriceps muscle to become necrotic. House had the dead muscle bypassed to restore circulation to the remainder of his leg, risking organ failure and cardiac arrest.
Cuddy broke up with House in Season 7 due to his addiction struggles and manipulation, ultimately ending their romance for good. Actress Lisa Edelstein, who played Cuddy, left the show before Season 8 due to contract disputes, leading to the permanent end of Cuddy and House's potential reconciliation.
Although it may seem like most of the film shoot locations for House are done in a hospital, some are done on a set at Universal Studios in California while others are done in separate locations.
Kutner's suicide was scripted due to actor Kal Penn's decision to accept the position of Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison in President Barack Obama's administration.
In "No More Mr. Nice Guy", when House is believed to have neurosyphillis, Chase asks her directly in front of Foreman and the other fellows if she has slept with House, to which she ambiguously replies "It's none of your business". Chase thinks she did; however, later, when they are in private, she says she did not.
In Half-Wit, Cameron kisses House while attempting to get a blood sample. The pairing is shot down by the show soon after Cameron becomes involved with Chase. In the season 5 finale they get married, but in season 6, they get divorced. Cameron admits that she was in love with House & Chase.
Nurse Jeffrey is a miniseries that is a spin-off from the American medical drama series House. The series focuses around the eponymous character Jeffrey Sparkman, a minor character in House. The first and only season features thirteen episodes (or "appisodes"), each about three minutes in length.
However, by the end of season 3, House's team had fallen apart. Chase was fired, Cameron quit after learning of Chase's exit, and Foreman quit after realizing he and House perceived medicine too differently. Suddenly, House's core team of characters was no more.
Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Sela Ward, and Anne Dudek all left House at different points throughout the show. Their departures were due to various reasons, such as contract disputes, storyline limitations, new career opportunities, and planned appearances in other projects.
Gregory House faked his death following Wilson's cancer diagnosis, so he can spend his last five months with Wilson living a carefree existence. He even secretly attends his funeral. As the show ends, House and his best friend, Dr. James Wilson, ride their motorcycles into the sunset.
If you ever watched House MD, you may have noticed how awkwardly Dr. House walked with his cane. That's because it was the wrong height for him, and he was holding it in the wrong hand. Canes must fit your body height and proportions.
Errors and inaccuracies occasionally occur, such as inaccurately diagnosing a heart infection or relating unrelated symptoms to a diagnosis. While most cases reflect real medical phenomena, the show sometimes takes liberties with medical plausibility and uses fictional elements.
So are there really doctors like House, who seem to be able to diagnose just about anything? There are. If you go to any community of doctors, they will be able to list three or four doctors who seem to know everything.
When you think of the best medical TV drama series, there are a few that may come to mind: ER, The Good Doctor, Scrubs, or even ABC's longest-running series, Grey's Anatomy. While those are all great medical dramas, the best one is arguably House.
